More horrible trees coming! (Project revival and Steam page launch)

This past month has been a bit crazy, so I want to take some time to talk about why I'm expanding this rage game and what the plan is in the coming months.

Project Revival and Unexpected Virality

Although I had been playing with the idea for a different game, I decided to split some gags about terrible trees into its own project back in June. I released a little game here on Itch without much promotion, just to see how it would do. It didn't get much attention...until I gave it another try in November. I made a few more traps, posted a clip on TikTok and amazingly it went viral (almost 5 million views as of this post). Now people are finding the demo here and leaving some nice comments. So clearly I need to expand this idea further.

The game started as a simple die-and-retry game where ever tree is trying to kill you, but since then I've been aiming to get a bit more creative. Trees will play with your expectations and try to make your hike miserable, hurting you in ways beyond just physical violence. The full game will even take you through several environments as the trees force you off the trail. Oh, and there's also an axe hidden somewhere in these woods. That might come in handy.

New Demo?

I updated the demo here on Itch with new visuals, but it still has the same traps as the original version I released in June. However, I'm also working on a more extensive update with some new traps and game modes, which I'll share here as well as on Steam. So look forward to that soon. The goal is to have that ready some time before the February Steam Next Fest. Until then, if you have an interest in getting bullied by foliage, I would appreciate it if you added it to your wishlist.
